Biography of Bishop Wilson


Bishop Orlando A. Wilson, a true servant of God and a lover of the Word of God, was born March 9, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland.  He is a graduate of Milford Mill Senior High School while he also in his youth attended Peabody Institute of Baltimore from 1976 through 1983.  In his early years, Bishop Wilson displayed his spiritual gifts at the New Antioch Baptist Church where he was a member and his grandparents were cofounders.  He preached his initial sermon on October 2, 1983, and was licensed at the New Antioch Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

Bishop Wilson has a prophetic and apostolic anointing symbolic of a contemporary Moses.  He is passionate and tenacious in , his assignment to help people move out of bondage associated with religiosity, and into the love and liberty that is found in Jesus Christ as expressed in intimate relationship, first with God, then with self and others.  He is embraced in the spiritual and civic community as a truly anointed vessel of God.  He serves as Pastor of both Resurrection Fellowship Church in Shrewsbury, PA and New Antioch Church in Baltimore, MD.

Bishop Wilson is academically accomplished in wide-array of spiritual, cultural, and social fields.  He received his Bachelor of Science in History and Political Science from Virginia Union University in 1988.  He was appointed Pastor of the New Antioch Baptist Church on December 15, 1988,  and in 1991, completed his Masters of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in New York.  He then earned his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in 1995.  He was consecrated and installed as Bishop at the New Antioch Church in 2000.  His capacity and love of learning continue to translate its self into other study areas that went on to earn a Master's in Pastoral Counseling in 2001 from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010, he received his Doctor of Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville,  Florida, and is completing a Doctor of Psychology at Walden University in Baltimore, Maryland.  He is currently working on a Doctorate for Worship and Psychology at the Robert Webber Institute of Worship Studies, Jacksonville, FL.  His exceptional leadership and academic accomplishments earned him the privilege and opportunity to participate in Harvard School of Divinity Summer Leadership Institute in 2002, and Summer Theology Certificate Program at Oxford University in London, England in 2002.

Bishop Wilson's ministry to people reaches far beyond the boundaries of the New Antioch Church.  God's vision for him includes the progression of the Black community and ultimately, all of humanity.  His genuine love and concern for people, especially children, in addition to his diverse talents are visible by his interaction in community on action programs and projects.  He has served as Chaplain for the Baltimore City and County Police Departments and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and has served as Board member for several community non-profit organizations.  He has previously served as an instructor and cultivated minds at Morgan State University in the Religious Studies Department.

In his spare time, Bishop Wilson enjoys traveling and he is a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate while he has studied other martial arts including Aikido and Jujitsu.

Bishop Wilson understands that we are called to "one Lord, one faith, one baptism."  Thus, he also fellowships and partners with other church-based organizations in obedience to his spiritual assignment to disassemble barriers that disjoint the body of Christ.  Bishop Wilson is a tireless champion in the struggle to bring lost souls to Christ.  He is revered as a pastor, teacher and leader whose first love is God and His Word.  He possesses a fierce determination to help the people of God move from "Religion to Relationship!"  He is truly an awesome man of God!
